Siemens has been selected as key supplier to the National Framework Agreement for the provision of Carbon and Energy Infrastructure Upgrade Services developed for the NHS and public sector.

The Carbon and Energy Infrastructure Upgrade Services Framework Agreement is developed by Countess of Chester Hospital (COCH) through its appointed service provider the Carbon and Energy Fund (CEF) for use by the NHS and UK public sector bodies with complex energy infrastructure.

Siemens offers, through the framework, a one-stop source for procurement of holistic low and zero carbon consultancy and technology solutions based on a wealth of experience with clients and in its own extensive global technology, manufacturing and service estate.

Siemens has been selected as an approved supplier to the Carbon and Energy Infrastructure Upgrade Services Framework Agreement developed by Countess of Chester Hospital (COCH) through its appointed service provider the Carbon and Energy Fund (CEF) for use by any NHS and public sector bodies wishing to utilise current and future technology to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions. The NHS is committed to reaching net zero by 2040, with an ambition for an interim 80% reduction by 2028-2032, and for NHS Plus, (which includes its wider supply chain), net zero by 2045, with an ambition for an interim 80% reduction by 2036-2039.

The Countess of Chester Commercial Procurement Service has developed the national framework agreement in conjunction with Carbon and Energy Fund Limited (CEF), which has access to £300m+ capital funding. CEF was co-created with the Department of Health to provide the NHS and the wider public sector with a streamlined, cost-efficient procurement route for upgrading energy systems and infrastructure with guaranteed fixed-term financial savings. Eligible users of the framework agreement include public sector facilities in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland from NHS, Ministry of Defence, education and further education, local authorities, unitary councils, city councils, and the greater city boroughs.

Siemens has an impressive track record in carbon reduction, not least its achievement of over 50 percent reduction within its own global estate on a journey to net zero by 2030. It is also working in close partnership with universities such as the University of Birmingham, Keele University, University of East London, University of Hull and others on their carbon reduction journey. Steve Jamieson, Healthcare Sector Lead at Siemens, explains: “We are a perfect partner for organizations who want assistance in achieving net zero, providing consultancy and guidance right the way through to project delivery, enabling us to guarantee our results.

This appointment enables Siemens to tender for call-off contracts released by CEF on behalf of hospitals and wider public sector organisations to design, fund, deliver, operate, and maintain complex energy infrastructure upgrades with long-term energy saving outcomes. Siemens unique partnership approach is a combination of implementing both Siemens and third-party technologies and services with guaranteed results, the use of digital decarbonisation assessment tools and the availability of financing support so that projects can be all or part-funded from efficiency gains.”

Lee Podger, Client Relationship Manager at CEF said: “The quality of bidders this year has been exceptional. We are excited to see the diversity of new technologies such as solar car parks, electric vehicle charging, generation of geothermal heat, chemical free water treatment technologies, energy expenditure and district heating from waste, to name a few.“
